Announcements just keep on coming

Last years #SFTOCSkinny winner: Matthumike

Last years #SFTOCSkinny winner: Matthumike

We are pleased to share with you not one announcement, not two, but three..well it is Friday after all!

Firstly, we are super excited to announce SFTOC favourites, Chew Disco & Trash O Rama to our promoter rosta. They will be bringing acts from near & far. Expect a mix of queer, electronic, r&b, post-punk and a bit of everything else in between. This is the first time these two have teamed up at SFTOC so we are really excited to see what they come up with for 2016.

Secondly, we can announce the first two acts for the Shambodie stage. They have confirmed the SUPERB Sophie Willan as their first comedic act along with Matthew Gray & The Awful truth as their first musical act. Here is what Shambodie say about their latest recruits:

Sophie Willan: ‘Recent recipient of the highly regarded ‘Magner’s New Act Award’ in just a few short years has cemented herself as ‘one to watch’. A Bolton lass she will be sharing with us some of her new show she’s taking up to the Edinburgh this year.

Matthew Gray & The Awful Truth: ‘We love Mat Gray and you really should too. He’s played the last two of our birthday shows and his mix of folk storytelling and sly satire make him one of the city’s best singer songwriters. The Awful Truth ebbs and flows in numbers and hopefully will be full to the brim for this occasion to round out the amazing sound they collectively produce.’

And lastly we are excited to say 2016 sees the return of #SFTOCSkinny:

Win prizes at Sounds from the Other City festival!

Sounds from the Other City festival returns to Salford this May bank holiday, filling venues and streets with its usual madcap mix of music, art and performance. Once again, The Skinny is teaming up with SFTOC to offer you the chance to win a goody bag full of prizes – with our special photo competition.

To enter, all you have to do is share your photos of the day on Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #SFTOCSkinny. We’re looking for photos that capture the spirit of the festival, so whether you’ve caught an impromptu gig or parade, a mysterious happening or art installation, anything goes! Our favourite shot, as chosen by the SFTOC and Skinny teams, will win a bundle of gifts kindly donated by the festival’s promoters and friends. Last year’s winners won gig and festival tickets, vinyl and more, so you can be sure we’re putting together a great little package of goodies for 2016. We’ll be revealing the prizes closer to the date – so watch this space.

In the meantime, you can find inspiration in some of last year’s amazing photos; and remember to follow us on Instagram and Twitter, where we’ll be sharing more of our past SFTOC highlights, revealing the prize, and, of course, sharing photos on the big day itself.
And remember: just tag your photos #SFTOCSkinny to be in with a chance of winning!

Good news is that physical tickets are now available from both Piccadilly Records & Common. (booking fee free from Common only).

And that’s your lot for now folks.
