The Chairpersons is a public speaking platform taking place at the former Flat Iron market. There we will have a chair open to members of the public between invited guest speakers.
Jonathan Trayner I Poietikin
For this performance the artist will recite a section of Artistotle’s Poetics in the original Classical Greek. The artist does not know Greek and will therefore be furnished with a phonetic English transcription. As he will have little idea about the meaning of the specific words he is saying the artist will inflect the reading with rhetorical devices at points that he considers poetically significant rather than those where such devices are appropriate.
There is a self parody here; the tendency of artists to take up philosophical themes without really understanding them. This discursus is of course pointless – the act remains; attempting to read an incomprehensible text to an uncomprehending audience.

Rachel Parry
Nottingham based artist Rachel Parry wants an intimate moment with you, she wants to stop time and embrace the beauty in mistakes, in the lost items in her head and the juicy scab you wished she'd stop
prodding at. She wants to whisper you along the journey, to lick up your boundaries and suck on your exposed bones, until you find a final unsettling place to find your beauty.
Joe Stretch
Joe Stretch of (We Are) Performance takes time out from performing live with his band at the Egerton Arms, to read passages from his recently published book "Friction".
Andrew Beswick

I
am a 36 year old artist based in hull. My work isnt limited to any one
type or media, often involving visual art, text based work, and
experimental music, sometimes all at the same time. I provide vocals
for two music projects at the moment - shitloads of fuck all and 5-7-5
- and am currently working on a second fold and staple booklet of
written and visual pieces.
