RED DEER CLUB at SACRED TRINITY

Having been promoting excellent shows in Manchester
for nearly three years, the promotional outlet known

as the 'Red Deer Club' returns to its second home and
the almighty festival known as sounds from the other
city.

With a couple of UK tours under their belt, and now an
established record label, the red deer club bids farewell to the live circuit in Manchester with a grand

finale. Promising a festival within a festival (how
postmodern???!!) head honcho Dunk Le Chunk has pulled
out all the stops and dusted down the bunting to
present a very special line up. Ditching the usual
folk tag, expect a
full day of 'popular music'
presented with a
red deer twist. With impromptu performances in the church gardens, cake stalls, a tombola plus special guest djs.

Playing live:

Los Grecos

Old impotent gits and a selection of clapped out
slags touring the B road pubs of
Lincolnshire doing
bad Status Quo Cover versions and sleeping in a Volvo.
Sounding like a load of five year olds that should
know better.

On a serious note, well I don’t think there is one,
this is uptempo pop music with strings, perfect for
the church, even better for the deer. How apt!

Their live shows can encompass up to 12 musicians,
including Rebecca Lee - Flute, Recorders, Piano,
Singing; Mark Dennis - Piano, Guitar, Singing; Robert
Rosa - Violin; Damo Waters - Drums, Percussion,
Singing; Catherine Reding - Violin, Accordian; Timothy
Shepherd - 'Cello; Nick Trepka - Guitar; Roger Rosa -
Bass Guitar; Ally McNaught - Saxophone, Clarinet; Bev
Wynne - Viola; and maybe some more …crickey!

The Moulettes

The Moulettes are an as yet little known folk-stomping
barn-storming cider-swilling quintet of exceedingly
talented young things. Featured in their orchestra of
absurdity are a cello, a bassoon, guitars, violin,
double bass, drums and twin female vocals. Their songs
are narrative driven alliterative epics of depravity,
decadence and delirious devastation, and they deliver
a rollicking, resounding live set when called upon.

hand, at home, on Christmases, birthdays and other
days of rest. ~ Suzy and Anthony played in the band

Eyes Family Players. Anthony used to play in the band

Sara Lowes

Having established a successful career as a session
musician, the talent behind such a well-crafted
collection of future hits is undeniable. A member of
The Earlies’ live band, Sara sang on the
critically-acclaimed cover of The Webb Brothers’ I’ve
Been Waiting So Long, and has lent her immeasurable
talents to King Creosote, Micah P. Hinson, Jim Noir
and fellow Mancunian, David Potts, as well as
contributing to both The Earlies’ studio albums.
The classic Sixties influences she absorbed as a
teenager have informed a fresh, modern blend of pop,
folk and rock’n’roll, driven by piano but steered by
Sara’s rich, warm voice. She now performs solo
material, sometimes backed up by the earlies.
Sometimes not, who will know? Come down and find out!

Down The Tiny Steps

A Red Deer Club wouldn’t be complete without this
band, an all time favourite, and the only group out of
Manchester who have played the most! These guys are
amazing!....Jonnie Common records music under the name
Down The Tiny Steps. Sometimes it's a band (Jonnie,
Ben, Craig, Al, Graham and Andy). Sometimes it's just
Jonnie. Sometimes it's lo-fi acoustic shuffles.
Sometimes it's electro-folk wizardry. It's always
inventive, endearing and fun.

Sophies Pigeons

A genre busting musical collective revolving around
pianist and singer Sophie Nelson. ‘They kick-ass.’ :
Mitten Records.
Hatched in Moss Side Manchester, in a dusty loft
space, the story of SoPhIe'S pIgEoNs is one of an
great tale. One became two, then three and then the
fourth came swooping down to form this feathered
collective. This collection of musicians created a
sound that’s toe tapping, finger clicking, erratic
rocking - wearing down the rocking chair. Hands
clapping, feet a stomping, new voices filling up the
smoky air….
