Paradox

Paradox is a raucous evening designed for the lyrically-influenced and banging sort of figure. It specialises in giving a platform to alternative writers, lyricists and musicians reading their written work aloud. Hosted by local Manchester poet Lauren Bolger, Paradox fuses the spoken word of both established and up and coming writers with the vocal cream of the Manchester music scene. Our plans for this year’s Sounds from the Other City festival are to invade The Oxford Pub with free flowers and fairy lights all for the sake of some grimy spoken word which will be occurring around the fireplace. So stand, sit on a chair or floor and watch the gaff glow. Oh yes and all entrees will be given a flower on entry, it’s just better that way.

So far the line up includes readings from actor and performance poet Neil Bell, Poet Mike Garry, established prose writer/poet and editor of Lamport Court Neil Campbell, up and coming comedic writer Socrates Adams-Florou and established prose writer Chris Killen plus many more to be confirmed.
