Your Mama's Cookin' is a rockbilly/jump blues event that focuses on that supposed era of innocence 1940-1959.
For
the past three years it has tried to offer an alternative to
Manchester's usual clubbing experience. A typical evening involves
knitting lessons, lindyhop lessons, a cake baking competition, live
music, and a very large dance party.
After
having a lovely time at last year's festival they've been invited
back for more of the same good old fashioned fun. As
well as the finest, carefully selected, hot rocking groups and
artists from around Europe, expect Rockabilly Bingo, cakes galore and
many other little treats for your eyes, ears and belly.

SERIOUS SAM BARRETT & DAVID BROAD
A
YMC regul
ar, Serious Sam gives essence to the word 'trobadour' that
is often missing when it's banded about by moronic music journalists.
Having just returned from taking the blues back to the Americans at
South By South West, expect Sam to be of serious disposition. This
time he's aided and abetted by David Broad, the blues from Yorkshire
has never sounded quite so harmonic and heartfelt.
Hank Haint
Hank is a one man band from the Deep South of England. He lives in a shack and make deep blues, distorted with love and squalor. We've tried to book him a few times, so are delighted he's making his way north this time.
LIZ
GREEN
Another South By South West veteran, Liz's ethereal and haunting blues-country tales have subtly become part of Manchester's (and Salford's!) fabric. After opening Glastonbury's 2007 festival on the Pyramid Stage she was asked by John Cale, no less, to play at The Royal Festival Hall in a tribute to Nico. So she did, and by all accounts stole the show. We're extremely happy to have her at our stage after just missing out last year. Catch her show early!
ELVIS
IN DISGUISE
It's Elvis but, in disguise. Musician's from Polythene, The Fall, Hotpants Romance, Maria & The Gay, and Danny Saul, take on Elvis circa The '68 Comback. Truely a sight, and sound, not to be avoided as those who caught their secret show at last year's stage can attest.
ZACC
ROGE
RS
Fast becoming something of a Manchester legend, Zacc's dedication to his art looks to be finally paying off. His late night busking sessions outside of the old Swiss Pancake House on Oxford St., have meant he has been able to test his talents against Manchester's least discerning crowds. Catch his early, looped blues set to him in his element.
